Group Discussion on Statistical Mechanics

The Hydrogen gas filled in a cylinder obeys Fermi Dirac statistics, MB statistics or Bose Einstein statistics ?

1 comment:

  1. Molecular hydrogen is a boson. The gas in your cylinder obeys Bose-Einstein Statistics. However, if the gas happens to have high temperature and low density, its behavior is well approximated by (the much simpler) Maxwell-Boltzman statistics. You can easily convince yourself that the BE distribution function tends to MB distribution in this limit.
